Even if you are new to guns, you have – no doubt – heard of the Glock. The name Glock is synonymous with quality and durability. Even those who know nothing about handguns, probably know that name. And there is a reason for that fame.

glock in useIn the early 1980’s, Glock released its Glock 17, and history was made. Some years later, still in the 1980’s, the Glock 19 was introduced. It did not eclipse the 17, because they are two different models of the same 9mm caliber. There’s a really thorough Glock 17 vs 19 article on Gunivore.com. If you wanted to see the differences this would be a great place to start.

The Glock 19 has been reviewed so many times, it is probably cliché to even think about posting another little review. But, there is a lot going on there, so I guess there is always room for one more.

The Glock 19 pistol is made of steel and polymer. Polymer is a substance produced and used by the Glock Company itself. It is a compound based on nylon, but it is oh-so-very strong. It is stronger than many different alloys of steel, and it is durable. Combined with the unique kinds of finishes which Glock administers to its guns, it cannot be beat.

When the Glock 17 first came out, it was ridiculed for being a plastic gun. Now, over 30 years later, we know that Gaston Glock was right. It was a great idea, and it has provided countless military personnel, government agents, and law enforcement officers with means to defend themselves, not to mention every day carry civilians.

The Glock 19 is not ideal for concealed carry, by the way, but it can be done. It all depends on the holster and method of carry. Some Glock 19 holsters are really good, and others can barely merit the name ‘holster’. The choice, as always, is yours.

This gun is accurate and reliable. That is a great combination. If you train with this thing, you won’t have to own any other product or accessory. Sure, there are tons of them out there (some of those accessories are really good!), but most of them are not necessary.

glock youcan trustThere are so many comparisons being made between Glock and other firearms. I don’t have that much to offer to the debate, except to say that the Glock 19 has been carry gun for years. It hasn’t been the same model, though. I switched to a Gen 4, but started with a Gen 3. Both of them are awesome, and I recommend this gun to anyone, regardless of their level of expertise with firearms.
